MARCOM's Video On Demand (VOD) program on Personal Protective Equipment in Construction Environments is specifically designed to help employers in the construction industry meet OSHA requirements. It provides employees with the information that they need to avoid injury on the job site by using appropriate PPE. Construction job sites are dangerous places. Each year more than 1,000 construction workers are killed on the job, and another 100,000 are injured. But government surveys show that most of these incidents could have been prevented if workers had been wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE). That's why the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires employers to provide and maintain appropriate PPE for their people, and train them on how to use it. Areas included in the program include an overview of the OSHA regulations involving PPE, personal fall protection, head protection, eye and face protection, respiratory protection, hand protection, foot and leg protection, and more.
- Upon completing the course, employees should:
- Be able to identify various types of commonly used personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Understand how PPE can protect them from specific hazards on the job.
- Know how to adjust and maintain PPE so it gives them maximum protection.
